Enhance Privacy & Style: Top Blackout Curtains for Living Rooms

0 comment 86 views

Like other window treatments, curtains enhance the appearance of your windows and provide privacy when needed. blackout curtains for living rooms have a similar purpose but are made of thicker material or woven with special dark fibers to block out incoming light. Most often, this type of curtain is found in bedrooms, but it is a good and functional choice for any room you want to protect from sunlight, heat, cold, and noise.

I hung each curtain over a window to see how much light entered the room at night and during the day. We also considered whether the curtains affected room temperature or noise levels. For each option, we considered different size and color options and evaluated the quality of the materials. After these rigorous tests (and one missed alarm), we can say that they are the perfect blackout curtains for living rooms, children’s rooms, home theaters, and any other room in your home.

Blackout Curtains For Living Room

Best Overall: Textured Eyelet

blackout curtains for the living room we tested, we were most impressed with the textured eyelet Blackout Curtains. This option is easy to hang, comes in multiple sizes and colors, and has been tested for effectiveness, design, quality, and more. It scored high on all features considered. Full marks and value. These blackout curtains impressed me right out of the box with their soft and heavy fabric. It doesn’t feel stiff like other options and features a textured finish that enhances its aesthetic appeal.

The only downside is that these blackout curtains are dry-clean only, so you can’t put them in the washing machine when you need to clean the curtains. The curtain head has grommets instead of curtain rod pockets. Rod pockets often block the passage of light more effectively, but no light was filtered by the curtains or their eyelets. The curtains blocked out all light from the windows, including nearby streetlights. We also learned from window installation that, thanks to the grommets, curtains can be hung quickly and easily. You can choose from solid colors such as black, grey, blue, and cream.

NICETOWN’s Blackout Curtains

We were thrilled to find that the soft, lightweight material of the blackout curtains for living room didn’t give them a practical look. It is functional and versatile at the same time. These curtains have a three-layer woven design and use black thread in the middle layer to block out light. We tested light and neutral shades but found that the curtains didn’t block out all the incoming light. According to the manufacturer, the darker the color, the more effective it is. While we’re still happy with the way these affordable blackout curtains work as a  light blocker (keeps the room cool with the curtains closed),  if you want to maximize their effectiveness, choose a darker color.

Is recommended. Fortunately, they are available in dozens of colors, and you can even order curtains in the size you need for your windows. Sold in pairs, you’ll find these to be the best-value blackout curtains you can buy. Given the affordable price and wide range of options, we recommend these curtains to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on blackout curtains or who just needs them temporarily, such as in a dorm room or rental apartment.

Long-Term Use

These curtains are perfect for keeping your room cool and blocking out early morning natural light. I think the material could be improved a bit to block out more light, but this is a small drawback. But it’s still an advantage as the curtains are very easy to manipulate.

Belgian Flax Linen Blackout Curtains

If you’ve been avoiding blackout curtains for living room because of their stiff feel and drab look, this option from Pottery Barn is worth the investment. These Belgian flax linen blackout curtains bring beautiful style to your bedroom, living room, or anywhere you need to filter light without sacrificing style. Our tests found that they weren’t as blackout as other options but still blocked out the majority of incoming light, so if you value quality and aesthetics, these luxury blackout curtains are for you. is recommended.

Pottery Barn

One of the reasons to spend more on  Belgian Flax Linen Blackout Curtains is the fact that they are available in custom sizes. We think customization is one of the best features of these blackout curtains for living room. I was able to choose the exact dimensions I needed for the bedroom windows I used for testing. Other blackout curtains are usually standard in length and width but may be too long or wide for your window. No matter how you hang your curtains, these blackout curtains make the process easy with a 3-in-1 headboard that is compatible with rods, rings, or clips.

The Belgian flax linen material of the curtains is very stylish and drapes beautifully, but please note that they require dry cleaning. The curtains were easy to pull open along the curtain rod I used to install them. In our experience, these curtains are not particularly good at blocking out noise or insulating heat or cold, and we estimate that the polyester lining blocks about 70% of the incoming light. Still, we think these are the best-looking blackout curtains available and are definitely worth the price per panel.

Long-Term Use

Although these blackout curtains for living room cannot block out 100% of light. They are a great investment to keep your room cool during the winter months. They’re also very attractive and don’t look like typical blackout curtains. Making them perfect for homeowners looking for a balance between functionality and beauty.

Modern Threshold Blackout Woven Stripe Border

If you’re reluctant to install blackout curtains in your bedroom due to their practical design. You’ll love the modern look of this option. As we discovered during our testing, Threshold Blackout Woven Stripe Curtain Panels don’t compromise on design for functionality. Instead, these trendy blackout curtains combine simple black stripes with a solid neutral base to block out unwanted light. During testing, I initially hung curtains in my living room but found that they blocked out too much light. And made the room feel like a cave. While this is acceptable in a bedroom where you plan to sleep. It may not be so ideal in a living space. In the bedroom, thick, textured materials served their purpose.

However

It was a rod pocket rather than a grommet or tab. So the only visible light came in through the gap at the edge of the window (not from the curtain itself, but from the way I hung the curtain for testing purposes). Otherwise, I found that the opacity of the material did a great job of blocking out light. And providing some insulation in cold weather. Another feature of this modern blackout curtain is that it is machine washable for easy care. I wish it came in more colors for those who prefer bolder (or simpler) curtains. Then this black and cream combination. But since it’s a neutral and crowd-pleasing choice, you can’t deduct too many points. Also, note that while some curtains are sold in different lengths, this option is only available in the 84-inch length.

How It Has Stood the Test Of Time

After using it for over a year, I still love these curtains. Great for blocking out a lot of light, reducing noise, and maintaining a desired room temperature.
